Design Team Update

As from 30 October, I have decided to (reluctantly) relinquish my position on the Slinky Tart Design Team for purely personal reasons and the need for a change.

I have been struggling keeping up to speed with working full time, being a soccer mum to two young boys, running a clean functioning house, fulfilling my DT role and being active behind the scenes and have felt like I needed some timeout.  I first started colouring because of anxiety and depression and I am feeling the affects of increased anxiety of late which puts me under more pressure.

I still love the brand and will follow the girls and friends that I have made through Slinky Tart.  I will still colour the odd pinup from time to time as I dooooo love pinup art.

I will still be around, just having a rest and colouring at a different pace xx

A big thank you to Tamara, Slinky Tart Artist for her belief in me as a colourist and the amazing opportunity to work alongside her.  Mwah xx

Loving that Cocktail ......

Today I am showcasing a brand new image I have coloured for the Slinky Tart store.  Welcome "Stacey" to the collection of amazing images.

(My background is added through Picmonkey)

This artwork was a commissioned piece for the Artist's friend, named Stacey.

She looks as though she is having a fab time and I really would like to jump in that cocktail :)

A couple of remakes ........ from Slinky Tart

Hi fellow bloggers,

Today I am showcasing two images that have undergone some minor cosmetic surgery and boy have they come up a treat.
Slinky Tart is the new creation from what used to be called The Stamping Chef.  The artist Tamara van Wijk has a huge collection of her older stamps which she is now giving the Slinky Touch too (not all, just some).

For example:  Here is the older version of "Milkshake Anyone?"

And here is my finished piece with the newly modified image using a background from Picmonkey.  I must say I am really fond of this image, she will make a great card.

The second image is "Happy Birthday Mr. President".

And here is the new re-created Slinky image with my Marilyn inspired colouring (with a subtle background) :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay tuned for more Slinky fun.

Culinary Claire 2.0

Hi all.  Today I am showcasing two colourings of the same image that was being trialled/considered for a particular Slinky Tart project.  Now that this project has taken off in a different direction, I can now place them on my blog.

This image is called Culinary Claire 2.0.  She was one of the first Slinky images to enter the Slinky Tart shop.  It's interesting how different the same image can look coloured differently.  I think I prefer the image with the strawberry red hair, hanging out in her kitchen :)

New Slinky Tart Colouring Book

Hi everyone.  Tonight I am really excited to announce that my friend Tamara van Wijk, the owner and artist of Slinky Tart has just released her very first Colouring Book, Volume 1.

Here is the cover of her Colouring Book which she has called "The Naughty colouring book for Adults ....... and men" lol.  Her images inside are just amazing and contain all my favourites from her collection.

If I may take a little moment (to have a little brag), I was really fortunate that Tamara asked to use my colouring of her fabulous image called "Super Spandex".  I feel really honoured to have been part of her project.  Sometimes I can't believe that my little colouring hobbie has linked me to some amazing people all around the world and we share the love and therapy of colouring and crafting together.  Can't believe I only found my passion in this area some 4 years ago.

The Colouring book will be available through Amazon next week and she has also released her book in Createspace here at:   https://www.createspace.com/5650856 .

I will update my blog regularly with any new links to how you can grab or download a copy of this wonderful Colouring Book.

Grab your pencils, crayons, Copics or whatever it is you love to colour with as I'm sure you'll have loads of fun bringing these pin-up images to life.

I have coloured many of Tamara's images so if you browse through my blog you will find some colouring inspiration.

Creative and colouring hugs xxxxx Denise

DT Inspiration Slinky Tart - 31 July 2015

Well hello there fellow bloggers and happy Friday to everyone xx

As part of my DT contribution for the Slinky Tart Team, I get to showcase the fun and fluffy image called "Snowman CPR".  Whilst I coloured her in the lovely frozen blue and aqua colours, I have also seen her coloured in Xmas colours and she looks just as amazing.  Perfect image for that wintery, snowy Christmas.

But I wanted to have her in a gorgeous wintery, snow-flaked, icy wonderland with her cutesy snowman.

And then trying to find the right sentiment become somewhat tricky.  Then all of a sudden this just popped into my head.  Does anyone else struggle with finding the right words, I certainly do?

This image is coloured with Copic markers.

My card is about as fancy as I get.  My craft stash is super limited.  I have lots of paper, ribbon, washi tape and some embelishments, but I really have no clue even how to use some to the amazing products that you can buy.  When some of the other design team girls are chatting about certain products, it just goes way over my head lol.  My passion is colouring, and making a card for me is kept quite simple.

Watermark and boarder added through Picmonkey.

The Slinky Tart DT are having a little break now but we'll be back real soon with some more new Slinky inspiration.  Come over to the facebook page where there is lots of activity and smexy pin-up art happening.

Have a great weekend everyone xxx

Just getting my Smexy Pin-up Art on ......

Last week I coloured three new shop previews for the Slinky Tart store.

The first image is "Tangie" who (I think) may have been one of Tamara's first smexy pin-up images.  She is a doll (and she is workin' it lol).

The next image is called "A Classic Tail".  A fabulous image for those mermaid loving crafters and colourists out there.  I did have fun colouring her (especially her lower back and bottom).  I have had some requests for her colour combos so I endeavour to upload these real soon, I promise.

And the third image is a brand new one called "Strike ...... you're out!".  She is definitely working toward a home run this little gem.

Backgrounds and watermarks through Picmonkey.

DT Inspiration Slinky Tart - 17 July 2015

This week I am showcasing my very CAS card featuring the gorgeous digital image from Slinky Tart called "Better than Tarzan".

I fussy-cut the image I had previously sent Tamara (the amazing Artist) as a colour preview for her store.  I just love her flowing hair and those beautiful big eyes.

My card is ultra simple today, just some coloured card stock, some flowers and butterflies and a glitter washi tape.  I didn't think she needed much given the size of the image and her scene in the jungle.

This image is available for immediate purchase and download from the Slinky Tart store (the link is on the right hand side of my blog).

Saturated Canary Colouring Competition

This week I am entering a Colouring Competition over at the Saturated Canary Blog.

The artist, Krista Smith, has released three new (double) images called "Fashion Decades".

Here is a link to the Saturated Canary Store if you would love to view or purchase the Fashion Decade images - http://saturated-canary.myshopify.com/

And here is the link if you would love to also enter the competition http://saturatedcanary.blogspot.com.au/

I have chosen to showcase my colouring and card using the 40's image.

I adore her hair colouring and little red velvet purse.  I have the perfect friend in mind for this particular card.  Such a lovely image to colour.

Feeling a little bit glamorous ...

Last night I had another colouring session on this little beauty from Slinky Tart.

This image is called "Vainity".  I have coloured her before, and I think she may be my all time favourite at the moment from the Slinky Tart Collection.

Below this image is my first colouring of her looking very glam in Paris.  But this time she is super glam in her red, let's say velvet, gloves, white silk dress and her striking red hair.

Saturated Canary .....

Hello everyone

Today I am showcasing an image from Saturated Canary called "Afterburn".  She is coloured with Copics of course.  I have to say her hair was a massive challenge.  I didn't know quite where to start.  So after using about 5-6 different colours and trying to capture the light and shade, I'm pretty pleased with the end result.  Actually, I had that many colours and markers spread out, I lost track of my colours to share.  I also used a little technique with the colourless blender and an E43 pen to make her shorts look like a dirty denim with some texture.

Hope you like her :)

DT Inspiration Slinky Tart - 3 July 2015

Hi everyone, here is my Design Team inspiration for this week.  Soooo pretty in pink.

This image is one of my all time favourites.  She is called "Illeana".  She is inspired by Belle from Beauty and the Beast and how slinky is she.

I coloured this image some time ago but it was time she was made into a gorgeous card, but now I don't think I can part with her.

I broke out my Sizzix and embossing folders for this card and tried out a new Die.  But don't hate me for not knowing the names as I threw out the packaging.  I scrambled through my stash of beautiful floral and pink papers and just added a white washi tape from Close to My Heart, added a lace flower and some sparkly pink ones, a paper doily and a tag and taaaa daaaaaaa lol.  I am just so technical in my crafty comments lol.

If you would love this image too, please refer to the right side bar of this blog for a link to the Slinky Tart and Spunky Tart Stores.  Many more amazing images to choose from, I best you don't stop at just one.  Happy shopping :)

Hope you like her as much as I do.

Crafty hugs until next time

Somewhere over the Rainbow - Australia might get on board :)

Here's my Design Team inspiration for "Slinky Tart" on the fabulous new image "Equality". There is an essence to us - that is who we naturally are, and it has nothing to do with our gender. Love is love.

The first picture gives you a better preview of the actual image you can purchase from the Slinky Tart store.  The bottom pic has been showcased with a rainbow image just to set the scene.

In a democracy social policy should be decided by the people, not by the judiciary, as has happened in the United States this week.  C'mon Australia, catch up.  In a land of so-called freedom, I don't understand the objection to same sex marriage.

DT Inspiration Slinky Tart - 19 June 2015

Hi everyone.  This week I get to showcase the totally rad and gnarly "Cowabunga" surfie chick digital image.

It's summer, hot and sandy in her world and she's just dying to ride some waves and catch a tube.

This is fun image to use on a card or project for that summer loving or surfing friend.

Image is coloured with Copics and I've used a range of scrap papers to create the effect of the water and the sandy beach.  She even has a few little visitors on the beach with her :)

Pop on over to the Slinky Tart store and check her out with lots of other amazing images.

Here is the image used with a coloured background.

DT Inspiration Slinky Tart - 5 June 2015

This week I am showcasing the new image from Slinky Tart called "Congraduation".

Obviously the perfect image for that graduation celebration, completion of exams, or recognition of something you have been working toward.  I love her regal gold and navy clothing, quite fitting for the blonde beauty.

For any new visitors to my blog today, I am a CAS (Clean and Simple) kinda gal.  I struggle doing fancy, but I do love to play a little and try and make the image the star of the card.  I do have a little fettish with washi tape and ribbon, you won't find many cards without it lol.  I love to do a little embossing here and there, but I really am quite plain and simple xx

And if you are a regular follower of my work/blog, you would know I love to play with my colourings and use an appropriate background to showcase the Slinky Tart range of digital images.

If you would love to see what the other Design Team Members have been working on this week, please come and visit us at http://slinkytart.com/Blog/.  Every week the design team showcase their projects for inspiration and ideas as to how the images can be used and coloured.

So Beautiful - Night Lights

More new images have just been released by Krista Smith, the talented artist of Saturated Canary.  One in particular which caught my eye was "Night Lights".  I have only coloured part of the image here but I have also provided the link to the store where you can view the entire image.
I loved the detail in her face and hair that I wanted to print her bigger and give more attention to the detail.  I have added a background through Picmonkey, where I add my watermark.

More Slinky Tart Pinup Art

Another new image added to the store this week.  Here is my colouring of "Mahalo".  I really adore this hawaiin beauty and her gorgeous parrot.  Oh to be somewhere tropical like this right now, I can only dream :)

I have added a background through Picmonkey.

New Slinky Tart image ........ I'm in love

Boy have I been having fun colouring some of the new Slinky Tart images.  They are amaaaaaazing to say the least.  Today I am introducing "Vainity".  I think I am totally addicted to Pinup Art thanks to the artist Tamara van Wijk.
I initially struggled as to where this little Slinky would look best, and then it dawned on me, PARIS !!!!  She is too glamorous to be any where else.  Really do love this image.  I'm looking forward to colouring her again in different colours.

DT Inspiration Slinky Tart - 22 May 2015

Hi everyone.  Boy these Friday's are popping around way too fast.  But today I get to showcase the funky musical digital image called "Cat Sixx".  She is so super cool with her electric guitar, I just adore her.

Now for the technical part of my card lol.  Again my card is pretty CAS (Clean and Simple) and other than mounting her on some appropriately coloured cardstock and patterened paper, in addition to adding some gold thin washi tape (from Close to My Heart) and glueing on some musical embellishments, the image needs nothing more.  So nothing technical here (actually I am never technical to be honest).

A great image for that teenager or musically minded friend.  I love her whole look with her tattoo and her top falling off her shoulder, she's totally rad :)  (I'm trying to sound a lot younger here).

She is available for purchase and instant download from the Slinky Tart Store.  You will find a link on the right hand side of my blog :)

And below I have showcased her with a musical background through Picmonkey.

Super Hero Slinkies to the Rescue

This week, Slinky Tart released a brand new image called "Super Spandex".  I had the honour of colouring her for the artists shop and I gotta say I do love the end result.  I wanted to go for a Captain Americal look but she also looks a little like Wonder Woman :)

And then the following night I remembered I hadn't coloured this fab imaged called "The Cat's Meow" also from Slinky Tart.  I thought she also had Super Hero qualities a bit like Cat Woman.

And then I started playing some more and this is what happened ha ha.

It looks like a battle of the slinkies.  I'm not sure who would come out on top but I think they look great paired together.

Anyway, these are both great images and are fun to colour.  These will make great cards for that Super Hero, Super Friend, Super Mum etc.

Some new Saturated Canary girls ...

Late last week I received my copy of Issue 56 of the Complete Cardmaking Magazine.  I ordered this online as Krista Smith on occassion releases new images on a CD-Rom with other brands/images/patterned paper etc.  Krista has released an amazing 9 new images.  I believe this Magazine is now sold out.

Today I would like to showcase Vintage Swim .  I adore this image.  She is so elegant and such a breeze to colour.  Those eyes and that gorgeous little waist.  I think I could be partial to colouring this one quite a few times.  I think she will make a lovely card.

I have added a background through Picmonkey just to set the scene.

This next image is Wine O'Clock also from the Complete Cardmaking Magazine.  Again, another versatile image that will be useful in making cards for our gal pals.

I mean to say, who doesn't need a little drop of wine from time to time :)

A Little Gardening ...

Today I would like to share a brand new image from Slinky Tart called "A Little Dirt Never Hurt".  I asked Tamara if I could colour this one for her store as I just loved her when Tamara was still at the drawing stage (sometimes Tamara will give us a little peak of images she is working on).  Once she was inked, I was ready to colour.

I have added a background through Picmonkey, just because she needed to belong somewhere in the garden.  She is a beauty and another ideal image for our card and papercraft projects.

Jasmine Becket-Griffith

I have stepped outside of my comfort zone with a gorgeous clear rubber stamp from Jasmine Becket-Griffith.

I first came to know of this artist some months ago and I boutght this book for myself as I just love Jasmine's art.  The eyes on her paintings are just mesmerizing.  The name of the book is Strangeling.

The name of the image I've coloured is "Fairy with a Butterfly Mask" from www.jessicalynnoriginal.com

I wanted her to look mysterious and dark, which is a bit of a trademark with Jasmine's work.

I used Jasmine's book as a bit of inspiration to try and capture "that look".

Watermark and background added through Picmonkey.
